Today the office was in a free and festive mood what with Pongal just around the corner. This year the celebrations were a little grander than usual, there was a nice little Pooja conducted, staff came forward to entertain their colleagues with melodious songs; the ambience was pleasant.

Amidst the celebrations, there was a sugarcane breaking competition where all the He-men of AscendersTech proved their prowess much to everyone’s delight.The competition was initiated by our CEO Dr. Thiru.

It was a loud and jocular occasion where our CPO donned the role of a solemn priest at the beginning of the celebrations and then switched over to his excellent HR persona where he highlighted the fact that all the songs sung during the occasion had been Krishna lyrics; and this only symbolized that Krishna being a universal and master strategist, this year would be a year of Strategy for Ascenders Technologies!

While rains whip lashed Chennai and other neighboring territories on 30^th December, AscendersTech went ahead welcoming in the New Year with as much gusto as the storm outside. As a matter of fact, we kicked up a storm inside the premises of AscendersTech down in the Conference Hall booked specially for the occasion. The festivity started a bit late thanks to  Cyclone Thane but the Ascenders were undeterred.

The Ascenders trooped in one by one, wet but excited to get the celebrations underway. We initiated the celebrations with a set of pre lunch activities such as formal introductions of the CMO, vCFO and CPO.

The Chief People’s Officer Mr. G. Kalidass presented his plan of activities from the HR perspective. He has already initiated the streamlining process of the HR policies. His presentation on the role of the Human Resources in an organization was well coordinated and full of interesting content. He had the audience interacting actively.

There was after that, a popular video that brought tears to everyone’s eyes as we witnessed the courage and perseverance of a handful of iron willed individuals as they fought against all odds to stand out of the crowd and to establish their striking presence.

He also had a brilliantly conceived presentation about the start and growth of the career of any average youngster foraying into the world of sales. The entire presentation revolved around popular Tamil comedy clippings; GK chose to casually correlate (in Tamil) his vast experience in sales with the carefully handpicked funny episodes that drove home the point. It was a unique and entertaining presentation that got the audience thinking apart from the initial reaction of ROTFL.

The theme for the New Year ‘Be the Transformation’ was put forth by our CEO Dr. Thiru by a thoughtfully composed audio-video presentation. The birth and growth of AscendersTech has been beautifully compared to the life cycle of a butterfly and this was the founding concept of the video. The fact that each and every true Ascender needs to transform himself/ herself to fit into the role that would ultimately transform AscendersTech in every sense had been highlighted in the seamlessly crafted video blended with inspiring music in the backdrop.

The morning session had everyone suitably pumped up with energy and enthusiasm to begin the New Year on a fresh footing. The fun and games began with our Events Manager Mr. Muralikrishnan taking over the stage for our eager participants who had come prepared to frolic their way into 2012.

In the midst of the boisterous events, we welcomed Group Captain Vijaykumar of the Madurai Management Association and Mr. Purushottaman, Regional Director of NASSCOM as our esteemed guests for the day. They motivated AscendersTech not only by their gracious presence and speeches but also by their kind gesture of giving away the Quarter’s awards and rewards.

The 14th edition of Bangalore IT.biz offered three power packed days of knowledge and networking. The event attracted many ICT industry majors. The participants included over 110 exhibitors AND 900 plus delegates and 600 plus companies along with states like Rajasthan and Bihar the latest states to foray into the IT sector. The conferences and seminars focused on Innovative solutions offered by ICT and hardware industry in, Urban living, Animation and Gaming, National GIS, Green Technology, Skill development, Cloud Computing, MSMEs, Aadhaar, the ambitious project of UID, and Workshops on Electronics Systems Design and Manufacturing were also organized.

The Innovator’s Gallery consisted of that one single window opportunity to touch base with new developments and interact with the best in the industry. The exhibition spread over six pavilions was a sure indicator of the shape of things to come. An exclusive B2B platform was set up for promoting partnerships and forge alliances with leading players in domestic and international markets.

The Annual ERA Sports Meet took place one fine day at the Pachaiyyappa’s Grounds on 10^th September. The events were flagged off with the Cricket Matches that saw AscendersTech pitted against Sampoorna. The match took place with an enthusiastic display of gusto from the participating teams as well as the audience.

Team Ascenders made their way to the NSIC Software Technology Park on Thursday 18^th August, 2011 to formally inaugurate their new premises. In a bid to consolidate its existing two premises at Anna Salai, AscendersTech has finalized a large, spacious and more corporate set up at the National Small Industries Corporation Software Technology Park  (the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) Scheme) in Ekkatuthangal, Guindy.

The event started as soon as the guests started pouring into the premises on 18^th August at around 4:30 p.m. everyone was seated in the convention hall which was decorated tastefully by the Ascenders Team, and at around 5 pm, the guests were cordially invited to visit the individual modules and witness the lighting of the lamp and the official ribbon cutting for the same.

Modules 201 & 202 were inaugurated by none other than Mr. Roshan Gandhi, CFO of Mahindra Holidays, while Module 409 & 410 were inaugurated by Mr. Sanjay Ramaswamy,leading Advocate;  Mr. Anand, Finance Director of Columbus IT, Dubai; the server room which is located in Module 409 was inaugurated by Mr. Mahesh Manchi, CIO of Mahindra Holidays and finally Module 406 was inaugurated by Mr. K. Jayaramakrishnan, Vice President, Global Alliances of TCS. Mr. Gokulakrishnan, Deputy Director of STPI was also at hand to help out with the honours. Our bankers, Mr. Bhargava, DGM, Mr. Gajpalla, AGM and Mr. M.V. Swamy, Branch Manager of Union Bank of India were our Special Guests. The GM – Projects, ELCOT & DSP, Mr. Anbuchezian and Mr. Unnikrishnan, Regional Manager, IBM also managed to make it to the event to share their good wishes for the future of AscendersTech.

Team Ascenders was in full attendance well before the event as each and everyone had a role to play. The entire function had been well planned, coordinated and orchestrated.

All the modules had been spruced up well in advance; colourful rangolis, streamers, balloons and shiny decorations beckoned our esteemed guests.

The elegantly designed decorations and rangolis were courtesy of Jyothi, Sadia, Noushath, Faisal, Anitha Pandian, Anitha Sampath, Angeline Priya, Mary Sylvia, Saigeetha, Renuga,  Swathi, Bersin, Gayathiri, Senthil &Arun.

All other behind-the-scenes arrangements were predominantly handled by Tulsi & Aathavan with the support of the Sales & Technology teams.

The Finance team was extremely generous and supportive throughout the exercise by going out of their way to see that things went in exactly the way they had been planned.

Welcome drinks were served as soon as guests began to make their entries.

After the official inauguration of the new AscendersTech offices, the crowd was directed back to the convention hall where the guests of honour were invited to take their seats at the dais. Introductions were made and our guests very generously offered their best wishes and congratulations to Team Ascenders.

Our CEO, Dr. Thiru warmly welcomed our guests and after the proceedings in which each of our Guests of Honour was suitably felicitated, the Director, Mrs. Jayalakshmi Thirugnanam gave the Vote of Thanks.

The event ended with the National Anthem wherein each and every one respectfully stood up with patriotic fervor.

Tea was laid out with a spread of delicious snacks and this department was handled with flair by  Muralikrishnan.

Today the HRO Team had cause to celebrate. Closures poured in from last week and the work area reverberated with continuous ringing and applause. The recruiters were all smiles and cheer as they rang the bell with a sense of achievement and pride. AscendersTech salutes the Team spirit and joint efforts that went into this massive closure rate and we are sure that this phenomenal incident will be repeated often!

The day started with a simple breakfast in the open and so, the atmosphere turned out to be more like a picnic more than anything else. On this very informal note, the Ascenders had their prize distribution ceremony (if it could be called that).

Special recognitions were due to Sadia for the care and effort she put into buying and organizing gifts for all the events; Deva was honoured for the zeal and enthusiasm demonstrated when he chose to be present for the Annual Day Celebrations in spite of domestic issues.

Anitha Sampath was recognized for her speedy and very effective manner in which she organized the various transport routes for the Ascenders mega event of the year.

Britto was given a prize for executing his exceptionally unique role in Latent Talent. His unquestioning acceptance of his role (a wild animal jumping into the pool!) demonstrated his fiery team spirit.

Tulsi was given two awards: one for being the most enthusiastic participant in the Annual Day Celebrations and another for his brilliant and tireless efforts in making the event a grand success.

Gayathiri was recognized as the ultimate Loudmouth of the event as her screams and whoops were heard way above everyone else’s during the entire event.

Revathi was also rewarded for her Herculean efforts in coordinating and organizing the Annual Day Celebrations.

The guests had a few words to say about AscendersTech and the further growth of AscendersTech in general. The day had begun on a nice and pleasant note and also wound up with a lot of positive vibes. It was a fun Saturday forum as usual.

The workforce were reassured that from this year onwards, there were more paid holidays than ever; new special leaves were introduced; in general, the entire Leave policy was more employee friendly than before.

Immediately after the presentation, it was a continuous riot! The entire company had already been divided into 5 teams and preparations for this day had commenced more than a week before. Mailers were doing the rounds and colorful posters had been put up in both wings.

A smile box for compliments too, had been doing the rounds between the two wings and the onsite locations where a chunk of the Ascenders workforce were deployed.

The team captains introduced themselves with their nick names for the day (Dharamadi Dharmalingam , Tondiarpettai Dhandasoru, Adyar Azhagi, Soapu- Seepu-Kannaadi and Harry Potter Vaayaa)  their vice- captains and their teams (Teams too had peculiar names such as 10 Thillalangadis, Jalabala Junks, Nava Kusavaas, Red Hot Oompaloompas and Adainagappa Pathu Peru.The real day @ Laughing Waters started with a Treasure Hunt which had all the teams in a mad scramble to figure out their clues and search for the next one until they finally found the treasure!

In between events, AscendersTech took the opportunity to recognize performers by awarding certificates.

We had various team events such as The Longest Line wherein which everyone literally fell over themselves in a frenzy to create the longest human cum material line!
